What is HacXLerate?

HacXLerate is byteXL's flagship national hackathon that brings together student innovators from across India to solve real-world challenges presented by industry.

It is a platform where students understand real business problems, build technology solutions, work under time constraints, interact with industry mentors and showcase their capabilities to potential employers.

From campus-level hackathons to an intensive buildathon and a grand finale, HacXLerate takes students through an experience designed to challenge their technical skills, creativity, problem-solving ability and execution.

Eligibility

Who Can Participate?

General Eligibility

  • Open to undergraduate engineering students

  • Students from any engineering branch can participate

  • Participants must have a valid college ID

  • Teams must be formed from the same college for on-campus Round 1

Team Requirements

  • 3–5 members per team

  • All team members must belong to the same college for the campus track

  • Each team can work on only one problem statement

  • A student can participate in only one team

External Track

  • Students from colleges outside the byteXL partner network can participate through the dedicated External Track

  • Dedicated Virtual Round 1 on Oct 11

  • Same challenge, just virtual

  • Journey remains same from Round 2 onwards

Who can participate in HacXLerate?

HacXLerate is open to undergraduate engineering students from eligible colleges. Students from byteXL partner colleges can participate in the on-campus Round 1, while students from other colleges can participate through the External Track.

Do I register individually or as a team?

Registration is done as a team. Each team must have 3–5 members.

Can students from different colleges form a team?

For the on-campus Round 1, teams must consist of students from the same college, as the hackathon will be conducted physically at individual colleges. Students outside the byteXL partner college network can participate through the External Track.

What is the registration fee?

The registration fee for HacXLerate is ₹999 per team.

When is Round 1?

Round 1 will be conducted across byteXL partner colleges between October 5 and October 11, 2026. Each college will conduct its own 24-hour Round 1 hackathon within this window.

What is the External Track?

Students from colleges outside the byteXL partner network can participate in a dedicated virtual Round 1 on October 11, 2026.

What happens after Round 1?

The Top 3 teams from every participating college will be placed on an overall leaderboard. The Top 50 teams overall will qualify for Round 2.

Where is Round 2 happening?

Round 2 will be conducted at the byteXL office in Hyderabad on October 24, 2026.

What is Round 2?

Round 2 is an intensive 16-hour buildathon where the Top 50 teams will further develop, refine and deploy their solutions.

Where is the Grand Finale?

The Grand Finale will take place in Hyderabad on October 25, 2026. The Top 7 teams from Round 2 will present their solutions before the Grand Jury.

Is accommodation provided?

Accommodation and food will be provided for eligible participants during the on-site rounds as per the event guidelines.

What about travel costs?

Participants need to bear their own travel costs for the on-site rounds as per the event guidelines.

Do I need to bring my own laptop?

Yes. Participants are required to bring their own devices for the hackathon.

What kind of problem statements will we get?

You will solve real-world challenges presented by HacXLerate's corporate challenge partners. The challenges will span technology and business use cases, including areas such as AI, GenAI, web development, automation and emerging technologies.

Can I participate in more than one team?

No. Each participant can be part of only one team.

What happens if our team is in the Top 3 of our college?

Your team will be recognised as one of the Top 3 teams at your college and will be placed on the overall HacXLerate leaderboard. Only the Top 50 teams overall will qualify for Round 2.

What is the total prize money?

The total prize pool is ₹1.75 Lakh. 1st Prize — ₹1,00,000; 2nd Prize — ₹50,000; 3rd Prize — ₹25,000.

Is the registration fee refundable?

Registration fees are non-refundable once the registration is completed.

What happens if I cannot attend Round 2?

Round 2 is an on-site event in Hyderabad. Teams qualifying for Round 2 will receive detailed communication regarding participation, travel and accommodation.
